NAKURU 21st July 2014 – Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has commended the Muslim community in Nakuru for the peaceful and harmonious ways they have lived in the Nakuru County.
Governor Mbugua hailed the cordial existence Muslims have shared with the larger community and religions in the County.
“This is a great opportunity to join you as friends old and new and to celebrate the incredible diversity of our great County. You have lived harmoniously without any incidences and more particularly on shunned issues of radicalism and we commend you for that”
He was speaking at the Iftar celebration last night held at Jamia Food Mart, organized by the United Congregation of Imams in conjunction with the USA Embassy Nairobi.
He also made a commitment that his office will arrange for Idd Ul Fitr celebrations as a way of reciprocating the good relations they have had with the County at large as well as assist the less fortunate members of the Muslim community during the celebrations.
He went on to encourage Muslims to apply for jobs in the county when vacancies are announced for consideration as he aims to ensure inclusivity. He took note of the success of Muslims in business and asked them to apply for tenders and trade with the County.
Governor Mbugua was accompanied by Njoro DC Mohamed Noor who was representing County Commissioner Mohamed Birik.
